Trina Faatz & Laura Bressler
We've been there...we can help.
Trina is a tireless advocate for child welfare, addiction recovery and prevention and family wholeness. As a Parent Peer Recovery Coach and Peer and Family Specialist in training, she has worked with over 400 families in assisting them with services and psychoeducation on substance use and opioid use disorder. Having been a volunteer school representative for the Parent Engagement Network (PEN) for 9 years, and on the Board of Directors for Voices for Children/CASA for 13 years, she now serves on the Board of Directors for Natural Highs, and is well versed in the struggles and challenges facing youth and parents today. Trina's daughter struggled with Substance and Opioid Use Disorder as did several of her friends' teens. Having navigated the system, treatment options, and intervention services, she and her daughter slowly created their own treatment module and rebuilt their family's relationships and trust. Trina went on to get certified as a Peer Recovery Coach to work with parents and teens struggling with the challenges of substance use. Now, as the facilitator of the Boulder County Substance Use Advisory Group for Boulder County, she also founded and directs the classroom program Youth in Recovery, an educational forum of young adult panelists bringing the voices of recovery to high school audiences. Youth in Recovery and Trina won the 2022 CO Youth Mental Health award at the State of the State Conference! Both of these community based advocacy and educational programs bring a personal and humane approach to intervention and hope. She is a Certified Acudetox Specialist and has a Master's in Management in Social Work.
Laura is a mom of a young adult in recovery. After struggling for many years, with numerous treatment approaches, her son found long-term recovery, and is now running a successful sober adventure travel business. Throughout their harrowing family ordeal, Laura and her husband learned what they could do differently as parents to positively impact and support their son's recovery. Throughout their recovery journey with their son, and wishing she could find more support for themselves, she become passionate about becoming that person to help other families and has now been providing those services to concerned parents for over 10 years. Laura completed the Certified Addiction Counseling training through the state of Colorado, Certification in Parent Coaching, and earned her Master's in Addiction Studies to become a Licensed Addiction Counselor, specializing in working with parents struggling with their child's substance abuse and often co-occuring mental health concerns. She is a Master's level trained trauma therapist, using Brainspotting Therapy to help individuals process and heal from traumas impacting their lives and parenting. She is also a Certified Acudetox Specialist, employing the 5-point ear acupuncture protocol to assist in resolving trauma and to support mental and physical health.
In her private practice, Laura's services range from psychoeducation related to substance use, mental health, trauma, and referring to appropriate treatment; support for parents to develop skills and approaches that can impact a child's recovery; facilitating an understanding of and healing for family dynamics and relationships; and trauma therapy to resolve the emotional impact of a loved one's addiction on the parent. She serves on the Board of Directors of Natural Highs in Boulder, and as a member of their team in the community, supporting parent advocacy and substance use/mental health education groups. Laura is passionate about sharing C.R.A.F.T. with families in both groups and in private coaching/counseling sessions.
